West HS Attends BMI Financial 101

Tuesday, February 20, 2024

West High School students engaged in a financial education session with BMI Credit Union. This invaluable experience was crucial for students as they prepare to enter adulthood and start managing their own finances. We extend our gratitude to Terri Gregoroff and her team for dedicating their time to educate our students on the topics of budgeting, saving, investing, credit management, and basic financial literacy.

The two-round financial education session helped students develop crucial skills and knowledge that will serve them well throughout their lives. It taught them how to create a budget, set financial goals, and make informed decisions about spending and saving. Additionally, it helped them understand the significance of maintaining good credit, managing debt responsibly, and the fundamentals of investing.

Thanks to BMI's provision of a solid foundation in financial education, our youth are equipped to avoid common financial pitfalls and establish themselves for long-term financial success. This education has empowered our students to make informed decisions about their financial futures and take control of their financial well-being.

In addition to the financial event, we were privileged to have guest speaker Shaquille Alexander, Whitehall City Treasurer, speak to our students on the topic of credit and the factors that contribute to a credit score. His presentations provided valuable information and perspectives to the students. Mr. Alexander is an expert and thought leader in the financial industry who came to educate, inspire, and engage the students through his presentation. We appreciate the time we had, and we eagerly anticipate our students applying what they learned.
