Several Lead The Way students braved early mornings and crisp fall weather to explore two of Ohio’s outstanding universities: Wright State University and The University of Akron.

Over two enriching days, the youth experienced campus life firsthand, touring academic buildings, sports facilities, administrative offices, and dormitories. They had the opportunity to engage directly with admissions representatives and current students, asking thoughtful questions about tuition costs, class sizes, available majors, and internship opportunities. Their curiosity extended beyond academics, with inquiries about financial aid, scholarships, campus clubs, organizations, and even the responsibilities of being a resident assistant.

Each day concluded with a buffet-style meal in the student cafeteria, allowing the students to enjoy a glimpse of daily college life. For some attendees, the trip carried special significance, as they had already applied to or been accepted by one or both universities. The visits provided these students with the chance to solidify their decisions by experiencing the campuses in person.

The admissions staff at both Wright State and The University of Akron were welcoming and thorough, ensuring every question was answered. Their efforts left the students feeling informed and excited about their next steps.

This impactful experience has brought these future college students closer to achieving their academic and career aspirations. We look forward to seeing them thrive on one of these campuses next fall!
