Students of Cornerstone Academy filled up the cafeteria, each wearing a different school color based on their grade. Principal Tai Cornute started the assembly off with three games: the first was a “Howl-Off” where grade levels and staff competed to howl the loudest, the second was a “Monkey-In-the-Middle” type-game where students had to keep a large ball in the air and staff tried to spike it to the ground, and the third was a “finish-the-lyrics” game with popular songs.
After this warm-up, Mr. C. announced two MVPs from each grade - these awards were given out based on teacher nomination and feedback. We would like to congratulate juniors Chase Christensen and Sarah Losseh and seniors Aliya Abdullahi and Reuben Frimpong, all of whom have done great work in Junior and Senior Advisory classes. Sarah is also enrolled in Lead the Way, currently participating in Lean Six Sigma classes and planning to be a part of the STNA work experience.
Honor Roll students were then called and recognized for their hard work. Many students were awarded this honor in each grade, concluding with a whopping 80% of the senior class being recognized. Mr. C. ended the assembly by sharing some touching advice from a mentor and friend, and by debuting a new school chant. We at Lead the Way are proud of the students and their successes so far this year! The energy and school spirit at the assembly were representative of the culture and work that the staff and administration put in, and a great end to the school week!
