As the fall semester draws to a close, Cornerstone High School students are juggling exams, college applications, holiday preparations, and celebrating their achievements. Among the highlights of the semester was the joint Symphonic Band and Choir concert, held on Monday, November 18th, 2024. Hosted in the new high school cafeteria, the event drew a full house of parents, teachers, CHS alumni, and community members eager to support the talented students.
The evening began with the choir delivering a beautiful performance that set the tone for the night. Opening with a soft folk song, they followed up with a delightful duet between the alto and soprano sections. The energy peaked during their lively rendition of Michael Jackson's "Rockin’ Robin," complete with dance moves and giggles that brought smiles to both the audience and performers. The choir concluded their portion of the concert with a heartfelt performance of the "Cornerstone Wolves" school anthem, accompanied by the Symphonic Band, showcasing the collaborative spirit of the evening.
In the second half of the concert, the Symphonic Band took center stage, captivating the audience with their dynamic musicality and rhythm. One of the standout moments was their creative rendition of "Mary Had a Little Lamb," which featured soloists trading phrases across the ensemble. The innovative arrangement and skilled performances drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.
By the end of the evening, audience members were on their feet, cheering and applauding the students' hard work and dedication. “It was amazing to see how much talent and creativity these students have,” shared one parent. “This concert really highlighted their growth and passion.”
The 2024-2025 Symphonic Band and Choir concert was a resounding success, filled with music, energy, and a strong sense of community. We at Lead the Way are excited to hear more inspiring performances and continue celebrating how Cornerstone High School students flourish both musically and academically.
This event was a testament to the power of music in bringing people together and showcased the incredible potential of CHS students. Here’s to many more unforgettable moments on and off the stage!
