Empowering Young Women for Success through Mentorship and Opportunity

Writer: Lead The WayLead The Way

March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the bold, brilliant, and unstoppable women who have shaped history. From scientists and entrepreneurs to educators and activists, women have led the way in every field—often breaking barriers along the way. But while we celebrate these achievements, we also recognize that there’s still work to do.

At Lead the Way, we’re not just talking about change—we’re making it happen. We’re investing in young women by giving them the tools, support, and confidence they need to step into leadership, pursue careers they love, and create a future where they thrive. Through mentorship, career exploration, and leadership development, we’re making sure young women know that their dreams aren’t just possible—they’re within reach.

Building Confidence and Career Readiness

Finding your path as a young woman isn’t always easy. Whether it’s self-doubt, lack of representation, or feeling like you don’t belong in certain spaces, the road to success can sometimes feel uncertain. That’s where Lead the Way steps in.

Our Career Readiness Program is designed to give young women real-world exposure to careers, leadership training, and financial independence. We help them build the confidence to step up, speak out, and take charge of their futures. Whether it’s preparing for college, exploring STEM careers, or learning how to manage their finances, we’re making sure that every young woman we work with has the tools to succeed.

Creating Space for Women to Lead

Danielle-Nicole Angel, our Partnership & Development Coordinator, knows firsthand how important it is for young women to have a strong support system. For her, Women’s History Month isn’t just about celebrating the past—it’s about making sure young women today have the opportunities they deserve.

“Women’s History Month is a time to honor the trailblazers who came before us while uplifting the women who are making history today,” Danielle says. “It’s a reminder of the resilience, brilliance, and strength women bring to every space they enter. For me, it’s also about recognizing the work still to be done to help ensure that every woman, no matter her background, has the opportunity to lead, innovate, and inspire the next generation.”

At Lead the Way, equity is something we put into action every day. Danielle sees this in the way women’s voices are not only heard but valued. “It’s not just about having a seat at the table,” she explains. “It’s about making sure that seat comes with real opportunities for leadership and impact. Whether through mentorship, advocacy, or professional development, LTW ensures that women and underrepresented individuals have the tools and support they need to thrive.”

The Power of Mentorship

Behind every strong woman is a network of support—and Danielle knows how important mentorship can be in shaping confidence and career paths. “I’ve been fortunate to have a variety of incredible women pour into me throughout my journey, so it's tough to choose just one! I will say, though, Nadine Lewis has shown me the power of resilience, grace, and confidence. Her guidance pushed me to step outside my comfort zone and trust in my own capabilities, which has shaped how I lead and mentor others today.”

That same philosophy is what drives the work we do at Lead the Way. We believe in showing young women what’s possible by giving them real-world experiences and strong role models. Danielle encourages her students and colleagues to take up space unapologetically. “I believe in leading with encouragement, honesty, and empowerment. I make it a priority to remind women of their worth, their skills, and their ability to take up space. Whether through direct mentorship, sharing opportunities, or simply being a listening ear, I strive to create an environment where women feel supported and confident in their success.”

That kind of confidence is exactly why programs like Lead the Way matter. “Representation matters,” Danielle says. “When young women see leaders who look like them, who have walked similar paths, it changes what they believe is possible! LTW programs give students access to mentorship, real-world experiences, and a network of support that can help shape their futures. More than anything, these programs equip young women with the confidence to lead in any field they choose.”
