Cornerstone High School proudly celebrated a historic milestone with its inaugural National Honor Society (NHS) induction ceremony. Founded in 1921, the National Honor Society is a prestigious organization that recognizes high-achieving students who excel in academics, leadership, service, and character.
Eight exceptional juniors and seniors, including four outstanding Lead The Way participants, were honored as the first official class of NHS inductees. These students exemplify the four pillars of NHS—scholarship, service, leadership, and character—and have set a high standard for future members.
The evening began in the school cafeteria, where family, friends, and faculty gathered to celebrate this special occasion. Dr. Reinert-Peters, the school’s Assistant Principal and Director of Academics, opened the ceremony with a heartfelt welcome message. Superintendent Mr. Carlton followed with an inspiring keynote speech, encouraging students to embrace excellence and community contribution. He concluded with his memorable mantra from the school’s daily announcements: “Work Hard, Have Faith, Be Honest, Be Kind.”
To honor the values of NHS, faculty members who were past NHS members shared the significance of each pillar:
Scholarship: Mrs. Skeldon emphasized the value of lifelong learning.
Service: Mrs. Seibold spoke on the importance of giving back to others.
Leadership: Mr. Thomas highlighted the influence of strong leadership.
Character: Mrs. Thomas reflected on the essence of integrity and moral values.
The inductees recited the Honor Society pledge, committing to uphold these principles in their academic and personal lives. Each student was individually introduced and presented with a certificate, marking their official entry into NHS. As part of the inaugural class, these inductees will carry the responsibility of leading and inducting future members, establishing a lasting tradition for Cornerstone High School.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks from Mrs. Thomas, who expressed her gratitude to students, families, and staff for their dedication to making this event a success. “This is not just a moment of celebration but the start of a legacy,” she shared. “The impact of these students will be felt for years to come, both within our school and beyond.”
Congratulations to the first NHS inductees at Cornerstone High School! Their achievements and dedication serve as an inspiration to the entire school community, and we look forward to seeing the positive change they will bring.
